Velayuthapuram

About Parish

Though Velayuthapuram was an insignificant village, it was one of the most important substations of Sundarnachiapuram Parish. The inhabitants of this village were converted by the Veteran missionary. The local Christian were very strong in faith. They themselves come forward to donate pieces of land to form a big campus for the church and presbytery. As a consequence of the zealous efforts of the people, the down of the separate parish of Velayuthapuram took place on 11th February 1958 Most Rev. Leonard issued the order Velayuthapuram as new parish. Fr. Manala was the first parish priest who built up the faith of the people. After the bifurcation, for almost eleven priests love done the ……….. In 1987, new parish, Duraisamipuram was bifurcated for Velayuthapuram.
