About Parish

Considering the needs of the population of Melameignanapuram and having sought the advice of the present Parish Priest of St. Michael's Church, Tenkasi and Members of the Priests’ Council and considering the salvation of souls, I hereby bifurcate the Parish of St. Michael's Church, Tenkasi and erect this new Parish, the Church of St. James, Melameignanapuram with the rights of a Parish, according to the Code of Canon Law Nos: 515 and 516, i.e. of a juridical personality belonging to the R.C. Diocese of Palayamkottai.

St. James Parish, Melameignanapuram is now constituted into a new Parish with effect from 2nd June, 2012. Rev. Fr. L. Alocius Durairaj is appointed as its first Parish Priest.
